Breaking the Nexus

 snippet :

As he walked up a set of stairs, the movement jostled her. If her lips just happened to brush against his neck when her head moved against the crook of his shoulder, it wasn’t her fault. She watched his throat work as he swallowed hard. Good, she was getting to him. Served him right when he’d gotten under her skin.
“Stop that,” he ordered, the command holding no heat. He shifted her weight for a moment while he unlocked the front door and pushed it open.
Unable to resist pushing him a little further, she brushed her lips against his skin once more. “Stop what?” Sha gazed up at him, the heat of his eyes making her melt. Those metallic eyes shifted and swirled unlike anything she’d ever seen, even among the Metallum Sorceri she’d met over the years.
He let her body slide down his, hands settling on her hips, holding her body close against him for a moment. “You’re playing with fire,” he warned.
“That’s alright, lucky for you, I’m an Infernum.”
“Really? And what does that mean?” Although he towered over her, his head was bent and she thought she might be able to reach his mouth if she stretched
“It means I happen to like playing with fire,” she whispered, standing on her tip toes to brush her lips to his.
She’d intended it to be a brief kiss, more of a tease than anything else. They hardly knew each other and had just escaped from a potentially deadly situation, after all. But the moment their lips met, all rational thought became impossible, incinerated by the flash of desire that swept through her.
One hand slid into her hair and fisted, pulling her head back to give him better access to her mouth. His tongue swept over hers, drawing a low moan from her. By the flame, his taste. Her hands grasped his coat as she pressed her breasts against his chest, pressure building low in her core. He was staking his claim on her, and she wanted more. Frantic to feel him, she pushed her hands beneath his shirt, running her fingers along his chest through the dusting of hair on his chest. Too soon he broke away, both of them breathing heavily.
“That—that probably shouldn’t have happened,” he said after a moment, stepping back to put some distance between them.
Sha touched her lips, swollen from their passion. Kissing him had electrified her senses, energizing her more than when she tapped a node, a direct line to power. It would be all too easy to become addicted to him. “That’s funny, I was thinking it should happen again.”
“Sha, I’m serious. I’m supposed to protect you, not make out with you on my porch.”
“Connor, I’m serious,” she mimicked. “I can protect myself and I don’t know what ‘make out’ means, but if it makes you feel better, I kissed you.”
His hand smoothed over her hair, brushing it from her face. “You’re a witch, aren’t you? Say it again.”
Confused, she cocked her head to the side. “Huh?”
“My name. I liked hearing you say it instead of ‘Detective.’”
Her heart melted a little. She had to tread carefully or she’d end up falling for this man. “Connor. And I’m not a witch, I’m a Sorceri, there’s a difference.”

I am a wife, a programmer, and now an author. I have an adorable mini Schnauzer and more books than I have room for. I love reading romance because no matter what may be happening in my life, I can always count on my books to end happily ever after. The day I met my husband was the day I truly began believing in happily ever after. After hearing me complain a few too many times that I had “nothing” to read despite the hundreds of paperbacks scattered around the house, my husband began suggesting I write my own stories. When I finally took his advice I discovered that although I enjoy my day job as a software engineer, my true calling is to be an author.
My sister drilled into me an appreciation for fantasy and mythology, something I try to bring to my books. My debut novel, Breaking the Nexus started as a book written for NaNoWriMo and has grown to so much more. It was the conduit that introduced me to a fantastic group of independent authors who have changed my life in unimaginable ways.
When I’m not writing, I’ve found a passion for blogging and interviewing fellow authors. I also love reading (of course!), baking, crochet, sewing sock monkeys, playing video games, and all sorts of random crafts. I have an incurable love of rubber duckies and stuffed animals, and I believe nobody should have to grow up if they don’t want.

Autumn doesn’t know why she remembers a boarding school she’s never visited, or why her reflection isn’t always … hers. There’s another girl in the mirror, a dark-haired ghost that emerges one night to guide her to a cliff near the school. Only Autumn can’t remember what happened there and why it’s so important. Beck’s gentle touch soothes her distress while Decker’s every look sets her body on fire. Caught between the twins, she struggles to understand her instincts and magick while working through the pain caused by a mysterious car accident that left her disabled, barely able to walk.
Unable to recover from Summer’s death, Decker slowly surrenders to the Dark. He can’t live with the pain, and those around him keep Autumn’s secret too well. The guilt he feels when he falls for her – and betrays Summer’s memory – drives him farther from the Light, until he loses control and begins taking the souls of Light witchlings. As the protector of Light, Beck must choose between confronting his twin and watching more witchlings suffer. Decker realizes Beck has come between more than him and the witchlings. With neither of them willing to let Autumn go, they turn on each other.
Only one of them knows the truth. Only one of them will walk away, unless Autumn can find a way to save them both.

About the Author
Gracen is a small town girl who was transplanted to the big city almost ten years ago. She describes herself as a hopeless daydreamer masquerading as a “normal” person in Southern society. When not writing, she’s a full-time basketball/football/guitar mom for her two sons and a devoted wife to her real-life hero-husband. She’s addicted to writing, paranormal romance novels and movies, Alabama football and coffee…addictions are not necessarily in order of priority. She is convinced coffee is nectar from the gods and blending coffee and writing generates the perfect creative merger. Many of her stories are spawned from these coffee highs. My Review Of Wicked Fate/Interview

What if you lived in fear of yourself?

For Mage McPherson being afraid of herself is just the norm. Thanks to that fear, being a loner in a small town never bothered the mysterious Mage. Once she received her secret abilities, she figured being alone was the safest way to be. That all changes during her sophomore year at Summerville High when Adam, her equally mysterious secret crush, starts to notice her.

Afraid that she might harm Adam, Mage must learn to either control or deny herself. With Adam by her side she's more powerful than she’s ever been, but is she powerful enough to defeat her worst nightmare? She learns a hard lesson about love and magic when her destiny comes to collect.

My Review
I Really loved this book, I could go on about it, but i can't give u to many spoilers about the book. Mage is a teenager who is in high school no one talks to her or even looks at her. Then a New Girl comes to school and wants to be Mage's friend at first she doesn't accepted it, then she does. Mage has a special gift, at first she didn't know it was special until she find out more about it and her and her family. I Loved Everything about this book, there wasn't anything i didn't like about it. I Really could go on about this awesome book, but am not you just have to read it and find out for yourself.  Once you start this awesome book you want be able to put it down, you would want to know what happens next.

        1.       How did you come with the title?
The original title for this book was Magic, but something about it just didn’t feel good. So I changed it to The Flame Collector, but again I wasn’t 100% happy with it. After many days of thinking it over and bouncing words around, I came up with Wicked Fate. Those two words describe my book perfectly and I like the fact that each word has a different feel. Wicked feels evil and sinister and Fate has a relieving, happy feel. I don’t know…maybe I’m just weird.

2.       Did you always wanted to write? If so Why?
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. It’s a big part of my life and saved me quite a bit when I was growing up. Life wasn’t always easy for me and when things got crazy I’d dive into a story and lose myself in another world. I survived my teenage years thanks to my writing.

3.       Is there going to be a second book? If so what is the title of it?
Wicked Fate is the first book of the Wicked Trilogy. I’m working on book two now, but there is no title as of yet. I know it will start with Wicked and then I’ll do another play on words. I just have to find a “good feeling” word that matches the content of book two.

4.       What inspired you to write this book?

When I was younger I was always doing strange things, nothing as extreme as what Mage can do, but still things that I questioned.  My grandmother used to tell me that I was really tuned in to the emotions of others. I don’t know how I do it, but I can always tell when someone around me is sad or if something is bothering someone.  I’m the chick that can tell you that you’re pregnant before you even know. And on occasion, I’ve been known to see or sense a person who has passed away. Yes, I’m aware of how strange this all sounds…trust me…I KNOW!
Anyway, I ran with that. I used to lie awake at night and think, “Wouldn’t it be cool if there was a girl who could do this? Or that? My imagination ran wild. So, at fourteen, I had the entire storyline for the Wicked Trilogy in my head.

5.       If you could would you write anything besides this kind of book?
I have several books in the works. I can write just about anything as long as it has a romance aspect to it. I won’t read anything that doesn’t have some form of romance.

6.       What was the most difficult part while writing this book?
Editing. Some of my favorite parts of this book didn’t make it to the final copy. When you edit, things changes…characters change. Because of that, there are several lines that were taken out that I absolutely love.

7.       If you could would you make any changes to the book? If so what?
This book has gone through so many changes already. I can honestly say that at this point, my book is exactly what I want it to be. I wouldn’t change a thing.

8.       How did you come up with the characters names?
Adam’s name was originally Adam West.  I don’t know how I came up with his name, he kind of named himself. Then I was like…duh! I can’t use that name because of Batman. So, for days I was trying to figure out what last name to give Adam. Then one day I was driving down the road and I passed a neighborhood around here called Westcott Plantation and it was like…Ding ding ding!  It just worked.
With Mage, it was a little bit different. I went online looking for unique names. I typed in Greek names, gothic names, and different kinds of fantasy creatures. On the Google search a word popped out at me…MAGE. I thought it was so cool! So researched it and come to find out a Mage is a magical being in training. It fit the character and her situation perfectly.  Her name’s been Mage ever since.

9.       If there is going to be a second book could u tell us anything about it?
Book two is going to be amazing! I’m really excited to get it out there for everyone.  The ideas that I’ve put into it are fresh and let’s just say…Adam becomes a character that I’m really excited to bring to life.

Tabatha has been writing since she could pick up a pencil. Her first publication was a little poem in her elementary school paper, from that point on she was hooked. When she was a teenager, she traded in her girly magazines for personalized writing notebooks.
At nineteen, she met her own personal prince charming and writing took a back burner for a while. She is now married to that prince and the mother of a beautiful Six year old princess/rock star. Once her daughter was born, writing came back into her life, and she finished her very first novel in May of 2009.
She is pursuing a Bachelors in English and hopes to one day teach while continuing to write.
As a stay-at-home mom and full-time student, Tabatha enjoys the freedom of spending a good bit of her days doing what she loves the most…writing.

About the Author

Devyn is a full time writer, wife and pet owner.  She's been writing since she was a small child.  Her first office job was working for a publisher and data entry of manuscripts.  She literally typed them and saved them on real 'floppy discs'.  When she was in high school back in the 80's, she would read Stephen King one day and Sweet Valley High the next day.  She said one day she'd find a way to merge the two books.

Currently Devyn and her husband of 19 years live in New Bern, North Carolina. Devyn is originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and still refers to it as home.  She has two adult children, Paris and Hunter.  When she realized she would be facing an empty nest and family so far away, she decided to write about characters to entertain her.  Her new series The Light Tamer, is about friendship, relationships and falling in love.  The Light Tamer series is a younger young adult book, the one that takes you back to the beginning before being jaded.  It offers characters that are both good and flawed.  Throw in some mythology and you're in for a quick trip that will leave you breathless and enlightened.
